July 16 What windows users and MS don't want to hear! After using Windows OS for many years I have decided that MS Windows will no longer be the OS of choice for my every day use. Why? you ask. Simple Ubuntu 7.04 was suggested to me by brother and trust me my brother is no Linux fan, yes Ubuntu is Linux or at least a distribution of Linux/Debian. So why after all this time change OS, well this is simple with Ubuntu you get a more stable OS timely updates and highly secure oh yes folks I said secure, I no longer have to worry about viruses and spy ware or DRM restrictions on my OS, I can watch and listen to what ever I want without the need to by a Zune or and IPOD. Check out this Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC5uEe5OzNQ What you get with Ubuntu like I said before is:
What you don't get is:
The only other issues besides not being able to run windows software or play the latest games is that you will probably have to install or configure some codecs for the Ubuntu Media players and most of the times this won't even be an issue since it will detect the codec and ask if you would like to download it. Ubuntu is great for small businesses since it gives you the power of a server or a desktop pc all in one, plus you won't have to pay for every desktop or server license since is free. So to recap if you are not a person whom does not need to run an specific windows/MS based software and don't do much gaming Ubuntu is perfect for you. Also if you are running a small business and do not have extensive monetary resources then Ubuntu is also perfect for you. Here is a list of articles which you can read all about Ubuntu and where to acquire it.
If you need more do a google search on Ubuntu you'll get lots of articles and resources. Here are some places which can provide you support or custome build a system with Ubuntu as the main OS.
November 29 The Wii Wow!Recently I read an article in “The New Yorker” about the Nintendo console system Wii and it says that being third does not exactly mean being a looser. Over the years Nintendo has strive to bring us the most innovative gaming consoles and although not all were big hits most did make an impact on the gaming community and sold very well. Which makes me realized that the Xbox 360 (own) and PS3 are not really that innovative when you really think about it. Let’s see the 360 has Xbox Live and Next-Gen graphics but does it really give us anything new other than online games which PC gamers have been doing for years and the same thing can be said about the PS3 with BlueRay(right). So it brings me to a conclusion that I should get a Wii since it’s made for gamers by a game company not an entertainment company like Sony or an Operating System/Software like Microsoft. I played it at a local GameStop and it was pretty cool. Again I’m not knocking those two other systems, but how much innovation do we get when we fork out $400.00 - $600.00 for either system, umm…great graphics and HD. You can read the article here: http://www.newyorker.com/talk/content/articles/061204ta_talk_surowiecki November 28 Xbox Live On-Demand ServiceOn November 22nd I found myself looking at some downloadable content from Xbox Live Market Place and let me tell you it was sweet! The service is offering some retro series such as Beavis and Butthead and Classic Star Trek. The download times are decent and the best part about it is the fact that you can preview each individual clip. Most of the shows are mainly categorize by TV stations; as of now there are not many but I believe that in the future there will be more but I guess it depends on its success. The one thing that has me puzzled about this service is that some of the music video downloads from MTV say ©2006 Sony Entertainment which is odd since they are competing with Microsoft and their online service. Also some of the HD movies are huge over 1gigabyte in size and I’m just wondering what happens when we run out of space on the hard drive can we copy them(movies) of course NOT. So is Microsoft going to release larger hard drives for the 360 now there is a fine question? On the down side for the service it has been reported that it had some issues in terms of users/gamers not receiving their content after they had paid for it. This could have been to the fake foreign Xbox Live accounts Microsoft has uncovered over the past week or did they knew prior to the launch of the service hum…another fine question? As for me I had no trouble downloading the TV shows or movies and let me tell you V for Vendetta looks great in HD. All in all the services is great, like I said before the download times are decent and once they add more content this should be a favorite amongst Xbox 360 gamers. Take a look at the services and its details here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/marketplace/moviestv/default.htm November 22 360 after 360 daysWhen I opened my Xbox 360 box for the first time, I though to myself now here is one great piece of hardware! From its unique design to the way the controller feels in your hand, well what can I say it brings tears of joy to my eyes! Now after having played it and it's games for 360 days I must say I'm so gratefully happy. Although it's sad to say that I'm no longer sleeping with my wife the downstairs sofa bed has become my sanctuary along with my 360 and HD projector. During the beginning of 2006 I did not think the 360 would be able to live up to it's expectation at least from those who remain true fans of this glorious machine. Most of the games that came out where only average and although they had great visuals most did not dazzled me with great game play which is the reason why I keep finding myself playing launch titles such as PGR3, Kameo etc... Now that we are near the end of 2006 we get Gears of War (a marvel of an achievement), from its awesome game play to its gorgeous graphics and insane multiplayer it is by far one of the best games we will see this year. Just to hype the 360 a little more there is the Xbox Live market place, I have played UNO and other titles available and I have made many friends along the way. This little machine has a way of bringing people together, giving them a sense of community. To conclude today's blog I leave you with 360 reasons why you too should love the 360! http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/xbox360/reasonstolove360.htm November 21 PS3 vs 360it's seems clear to me after reading this article that the 360 is a more powerful system regardless of the cell processor. And as I mentioned before 360 is a much easier system to develop for. This article is long and somewhat detailed please try and read all of it so that you may better comprehend what is being said, but I doubt most PS Super Fan boys will understand it umm...good luck.
November 17 PS Fan boysYou know what I really don't understand is why when face with facts PS Fanboys just dismiss them all and continue to act a fool.
Most PS Fan boys love to brag about this new PS3 crap of a system on how it's a superior console but when compared side by side with the 360 (Tech Specs), the 360 has more graphical power with it's GPU; now I don't know about everyone else but is there any shed of proof that the PS3 is a more powerful system in terms of graphics. We all know that the Cell Processor is powerful that's just in terms of raw computing, in actuality the 360 has 3 3.2Ghz cores and a Powerful GPU which is Better than the NVIDIA card found on the PS3.
In terms of gaming the 360 has plenty of games already and the graphics on these games can blow away anything that the PS3 has for launch, PGR3 looks better than Motor Storm and Gears of War is just not in the same category as Resistance. In fact you can compare them in terms of graphics, so why are all these PS Fan boys making so much fuzz about this system.
Also let's look at the PS Network, compare to XBL this thing is horrible, you can keep track of achievements or send in game messages or notifications. The Store is lame(MS rip-off) and you have to pay for each multiplayer game separately, meaning that if EA wants to charge 4.99 or 14.95 a month there is nothing stopping them from doing this. XBL in the other hand give you a choice to either have a Silver or Gold account. For $50 a year you get to play all multiplayer games you want, there are no Xfire patches to download or anything like that.
Oh and there is the hardware! A Blue Ray DVD for $600 sounds good if it where the definitive DVD format. It's not; at least not yet. So why would anyone pay $600 for a console it's insane, most games don't even use 10GB of space a good example Gears of War (6GB) and look how amazing the game looks. This is just incomprehensible! So after all this being said PS Fan boys still refuse to admit that the PS3 has nothing going for it at least not really. So why live in denial, day after day I read posts on articles here on Game Spot and their comments are just ridiculous and sad. For all you PS Fan boys out there please grow some common sense and don't buy into the hype the PS3 it's not better than the 360 and it's Network has a long way to go....ah good luck with the hackers. I welcome your comments. |
