What windows users and MS don't want to hear!

After using Windows OS for many years I have decided that MS Windows will no longer be the OS of choice for my every day use. Why? you ask. Simple Ubuntu 7.04 was suggested to me by brother and trust me my brother is no Linux fan, yes Ubuntu is Linux or at least a distribution of Linux/Debian. So why after all this time change OS, well this is simple with Ubuntu you get a more stable OS timely updates and highly secure oh yes folks I said secure, I no longer have to worry about viruses and spy ware or DRM restrictions on my OS, I can watch and listen to what ever I want without the need to by a Zune or and IPOD.

Check out this Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC5uEe5OzNQ

What you get with Ubuntu like I said before is:

    • Stability

    • Security

    • DRM FREE OS(Digital Rights Management)

    • Free Office suite (Open Office 2.2x)

    • Media Players (Free/NO DRM)

    • Graphics Application (Free) something along the lines or illustrator and Photo shop. For free I say is great.

    • Network compatibility with Windows (through Sambad)

    • Fire Fox Web Browser

    • Package Manager (Tons of free software for almost every need! for Free as in speech and as in beer)

    What you don't get is:

    • No windows compatibility (meaning you can't run windows applications)

    • No windows gaming (unless there is are versions of the games for Linux)

The only other issues besides not being able to run windows software or play the latest games is that you will probably have to install or configure some codecs for the Ubuntu Media players and most of the times this won't even be an issue since it will detect the codec and ask if you would like to download it.

Ubuntu is great for small businesses since it gives you the power of a server or a desktop pc all in one, plus you won't have to pay for every desktop or server license since is free.

So to recap if you are not a person whom does not need to run an specific windows/MS based software and don't do much gaming Ubuntu is perfect for you. Also if you are running a small business and do not have extensive monetary resources then Ubuntu is also perfect for you.

Here is a list of articles which you can read all about Ubuntu and where to acquire it.

If you need more do a google search on Ubuntu you'll get lots of articles and resources.
